Prometheus – der Mythos vom Menschen, der Natur und Technik beherrscht. Der in Sizilien geborene Regisseur und Bühnenbildner Simone Mannino hat gemeinsam mit dem politisch engagierten Autor Lorenzo Marsili ein Theaterprojekt entwickelt, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Atelier Nostra Signora und einem transnationalen Ensemble aus Italien und Tunis. Das Element des Feuers wird in sein Gegenteil verkehrt. Prometheus (Jamel Madani) wird buchstäblich von der Klippe ins Meer gestürzt, aus dem Wasser gefischt und von einer Menschheit, die die Götter ersetzt hat, in einem aseptischen Raum eingesperrt. Der Titan, wiedervereint mit seinem Gefährten Hermes, wird von zahlreichen Erscheinungen besucht und heimgesucht und muss sich grundlegenden Fragen über die menschliche Natur stellen.

Prometheus is one of the most powerful tales of humanity’s mastery over nature and technology – always in the service of a new self-analysis of a society undergoing profound change. The new theatre creation directed by Sicilian-born director and set designer Simone Mannino, written with political writer Lorenzo Marsili, created in collaboration with Atelier Nostra Signora and a transnational ensemble of artists based in Italy and Tunis, literally throws Prometheus (Jamel Madani) from the cliff into the sea. Inverting the element of fire into its opposite, Prometheus is fished out of the water and imprisoned in an aseptic space by a humanity that has now replaced the gods. The Titan, reunited with his companion Hermes, and visited by numerous apparitions, is confronted with fundamental questions about human nature.
